Held at Barranco Ateliê, the launch of the catalog for the exhibition “Abaixo do sol, acima da terra”—a solo show by Valdson Ramos curated by Paulo Henrique Silva—featured not only a talk by the artist and the curator with the public but also an open studio showcasing works in progress by Ramos and a selection of pieces previously featured in the exhibition.
Accompanied by curator Paulo Henrique Silva’s critical analysis, the exhibition catalog offers a perspective on artist Valdson Ramos’s production over the past 10 years of his career.
The exhibition, held between July and October 2023 at the Antônio Sibasolly Gallery, presented works that address religiosity as a symbolic and political construct. By using elements such as holy water, sacramental wine, sacred images, and rock fragments, Valdson explores the intersection of faith, materiality, and power. His works create a tension between the sacred and the profane, prompting reflections on memory, violence, and identity.
This project received funding under the Federal Government’s Paulo Gustavo Law, through the City of Anápolis, via the Municipal Department of Culture and Tourism.
