“Onde a carne se faz chama" (Where flesh turns to flame), Chico Silva’s first solo exhibition in Goiânia, features approximately 100 works—including drawings, paintings, and sculptures—at the Octo Marques Cultural Center. The exhibition takes a retrospective look at the artist’s body of work, presenting pieces from various private collections in the state, as well as a series of previously unseen paintings produced during Chico Silva’s artist residency at Barranco Ateliê between 2024 and 2025.
"Chico Silva’s first solo exhibition in Goiânia is an immersive aesthetic experience, in which the body of work engages with the contradictions and tensions that permeate both contemporary society and human existence itself. It is a visual manifesto that transcends mere representation, establishing itself as an instrument of denunciation, resistance, and reinterpretation. Organized into four groups of works from the artist’s current production—the representation of the female body; the fusion between the human and the beastly, through the display of animals and anthropomorphic figures; the political series with an emphasis on the capital Brasília, and the transformation of tree trunks and branches into sculptures—the exhibition reveals a trajectory that refuses to acquiesce in the face of the injustices and structural oppressions that mark everyday life."
